Bittersweet Candle Company, sure has a good thing going! I recently had the opportunity to smell and burn some of this company’s candles. After reviewing it seems only two words came to mind: smooth and ….mmmmm! Candles are a hot item today and when reviewing a candle or a candle brand, there are certain things you look for that make that individual candle stand out above the rest. Bittersweet Candle did so in all of these categories and I must say, I think I’ve found a new favorite.

Bittersweet Candle is a direct sales company and they are on top of the game when it comes to the quality used in wicks, waxes, and scents. These candles are among the smoothest I’ve ever felt, and please don’t confuse that with soft. They are indeed hard, yet silky smooth to the touch. They have listened and responded to the EPA’s heed of lead based wicks, and thus use zinc based wicks. (A wick with a wire core burns cleaner because it allows the wick to remain upright to incinerate versus smoldering out.) In addition, Bittersweet double wicks all candles eight ounces or more, thus causing more wax to be used.

The scent of these candles was my favorite feature. Not only did they have a great scent throw, but that’s almost an understatement. They have definitely found the exact saturation point of scenting a candle. Generally, a softer wax can hold more scent oil. In Bittersweet’s “Nature’s Gift” series they use 100% Vegetable Wax and in return because of it’s softness more scent can be added.

Overall, I was very impressed with this company’s products. From their unique wooden lids, to their occasion candles they are definitely going places! They also have gourmet coffees and lotions for those that aren’t so “Candle” oriented.
