Self-Sabotage

This is a subject I know we can all relate to in one form or another. For many people Self-Sabotage is a way of life! If you’re not one of those people, great! However, you may sponsor one or some people who sabotage themselves at every turn. This information will aid you to assist yourself & your developing leaders.

Self-Sabotage is tied into four main factors: Lack of self-esteem, self-worth, self-love and self-confidence.

When a person who has a pattern of self-sabotage begins a network marketing/home based opportunity they are (sooner or later) going to have to address these unresolved issues? Do you recognize why leaving these issues unresolved will eventually re-create the whole self-sabotage pattern or cycle all over again?

Many people get started in their own home-based opportunity and issues such as: deserve, leadership, prosperity and self-esteem come into play and they fold under the pressure. Now you understand why.

This umbrella, each of us stand under is called “network marketing/direct sales” and is really an umbrella for a higher level of personal growth and awareness of oneself. That’s why I always tell people “You are supposed to be here” now let’s figure out why. What is the lesson? What are your unresolved issues waiting to be addressed? When are you ready to change?

Here are some examples of what could prompt people to begin to self-sabotage themselves in their networking business; 1) What if I earn more money than my husband/wife/spouse?
2) Do I really deserve to be successful?
3) What will I do with all that money?
4) What right do I have to lead other people?
5) If I become successful, will people still like me?

You can expect great things from people who feel good about themselves. As a leader it is crucial that you highlight your team members talents and abilities. Even if you can only spot one or two positive features, that’s all it takes sometimes to begin building that person’s self esteem.

The quickest way to avoid self-sabotage is to build your self-esteem.

Focus on the abilities you do have instead of the strengths you don’t have. List below as many of your strengths as you can think of in 60 seconds: ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________

Mary Kay Ash, founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics had a favorite quote: She told her team leaders to praise people to success. It worked for Mary Kay Cosmetics so why couldn’t it work for you?

Most people do not have anyone who believes in them. They don’t have a coach or a cheerleader. In network marketing you have the opportunity to be that leader, coach, cheerleader for your team members. Network marketing is a world of positive self-talks and progressive action. I’ve been told the reason so many of us are “hooked” on networking is because of this insulated and positive environment we create for ourselves. The money may take awhile to catch up with the personal growth it will catch up… so get ready!

Breaking the pattern of self-sabotage begins with a daily game plan or a plan of attack. By establishing a great work ethic and a sound strategy in order to achieve your goals. Reach the goal and the message is sent to your brain that you have a real plan and that the plan is a successful one. The message is that if you stick to your plan, you will begin to see positive results in your business. You are indeed in control of your enterprise.

Once you have created a good work ethic and a game plan, you will begin the process of self-motivation. A little success raises your self-confidence. Raising your self-confidence will create more success and the optimistic cycle continues.

When you look into the mirror you see a person of value, someone who is going to be more successful, someone who is going to win. Because you have worked for your success, you now deserve it. And that’s what self-esteem is all about!

The power of self-esteem is the most important determining factor in reaching our potential. Before we can develop or improve our prospecting, leading, training, recruiting skills and fundamentals, before we truly can start to achieve, we must believe that our value is worth improving. We must believe that our actions will make this possible.

As a team leader and motivator you will enable people to dream. In network marketing we have the opportunity to dream big and to see that the dream is really achievable with some effort and persistence. Your job is to praise people and to point out to people who aren’t taking the steps required to succeed that they will not make it if they continue the current pattern of behavior.

You have a chance to assist yourself and others and it begins with you deserving to fulfill your goals and dreams! Assist others to begin building their vision of accomplishment. Encourage them to recognize that the small crack of opportunity truly is a window ready to open wider and wider. Let them know you believe in them and they will have to believe in themselves in order for their success to materialize!

Ending self-sabotage begins with fanning that flame of desire. You must recognize the potential in yourself and others. If other people can be successful in this industry, why can’t you? If other people achieve multiple six figure results, why not you? What is really keeping you from achieving your goals and dreams? Your success or failure is completely up to you! If it’s to be it’s up to me!

We all have times when we experience frustrations. The key is to keep sticking to your plan of attack and have the patience to realize that transforming your life is a marathon, not a sprint.
