Finding a job that you can do at home, that pays well, is a dilemma for many working mums out there who struggle to distinguish the good jobs from the scams.

First of all, the most important thing when looking for a home working job is to use your common sense – never, ever, send money to a potential employer upfront, regardless of whether or not they say it is for ‘supplies’.

If you’ve done your homework and are going to sign up for something and need to input your bank details then again, use caution. Check that the site you are using is secure is not picked up by your internet protection software as being dangerous. A respected site will rank well in Google, so don’t sign up for something that’s on the 86th page.

Check well respected forums (again these will come up in the first couple of pages in Google) that specialise in home working routes and see what other people are saying about the latest scams.

One of the best ways to find some great home working tips and advice is by asking other mums! There have been loads of websites springing up in the UK which will match professional mums with part-time, flexible jobs. Employers are now starting to recognise that home working is a great option for them too and it certainly provides the flexibility a working mum needs.

If you’re looking for advice, want to get back into part-time work or want to work from home then these mum friendly sites can be really helpful. www.workingmums.co.uk which will help match you with potential employers, who all offer flexible work. You can also get everything from tips on how to update your CV to getting back into work and some great home working options too.

If you’ve already found something that you think looks suitable, but are worried about it being a scam then you can always ask the experts at Working Mums in their advice section, just to get peace of mind and a second opinion – after all the world of home working can be a little confusing sometimes and it is best to ask first rather than regret your choice later on.
